Magesi FC and the Carling Knockout All-Stars will square off at the Orlando Stadium this Saturday in the second edition of the Carling Black Label Cup.
Betway Premiership newcomers Magesi FC sent shockwaves through South Africa on November 23 when they stunned Mamelodi Sundowns at the Toyota Stadium to claim the Carling Knockout.
Not only did Magesi claim a handsome R6.85 million prize, but they also earned the opportunity to face off against a select team of Carling Knockout All-Stars, chosen by Carling Black Label drinkers via a vote.
Last season, the All-Star team beat Carling Knockout champions Stellenbosch 2-1 under Jose Riveiro.
The team headlined by Kaizer Chiefs star Ashley du Preez, Orlando Pirates’ Sipho Chaine, Mbekezeli Mbokazi, Dimpho Madalane, Jabulani Mokone, and Relebohile Mofokeng, while Mamelodi Sundowns’ Bafana Bafana star Bathusi Aubaas is joined by teammate Thembinkosi Lorch.
Pirates mentor and cup specialist Riveiro is set to take the reins once again, coaching this fan-favorite team in what promises to be a captivating clash against Clinton Larsen’s Magesi.
